Lesson 3

Hey, lesson 3 wasn't too bad, though I still have to do some "tweeking" to add a few web-sites. I can see where it will be very useful to check out all the librarians who are working on 2.0 Challenge instead of spending all the time going to each individual name, click on that, then read each one. I liked searching Google Reader much better, it seemed to be easier to navigate through. It was great to get the news, sports, and updates from libraies. I can see where teens who like to work on computers would enjoy RSS.

Think about what you want your community to know. Programs, particularly with kids' pictures are good (always get permission from parents first). Overcrowded and fundraising for expansion? Show pictures of full stacks, lots of people crammed into one place, etc. Show stats about growth. Highlight your successes and state plainly your needs. Use pictures, charts and graphs rather than just text. People won't spend much time reading little print. Make it bright and colorful and have fun doing it.

Thanks for the hints, it helped. I have the board done so hoping it will generate some interest in helping our library.
